c++ - caffe layer loss_weight_size

I am new to c++, when I was reading codes about caffe layers, I find functions like loss_weight_size() and add_loss_weight(). I searched the whole project and didn't find the definition of these functions. So what are these functions?

template <typename Dtype>
void LossLayer<Dtype>::LayerSetUp(
    const vector<Blob<Dtype>*>& bottom, const vector<Blob<Dtype>*>& top) {
  // LossLayers have a non-zero (1) loss by default.
  if (this->layer_param_.loss_weight_size() == 0) {
    this->layer_param_.add_loss_weight(Dtype(1));
  }
}

layer_param is a member of current class, it is defined in a proto file:

message LayerParameter {
  optional string name = 1; // the layer name
  optional string type = 2; // the layer type
  repeated string bottom = 3; // the name of each bottom blob
  repeated string top = 4; // the name of each top blob

  // The train / test phase for computation.
  optional Phase phase = 10;

  // The amount of weight to assign each top blob in the objective.
  // Each layer assigns a default value, usually of either 0 or 1,
  // to each top blob.
  repeated float loss_weight = 5;

  // Specifies training parameters (multipliers on global learning constants,
  // and the name and other settings used for weight sharing).
  repeated ParamSpec param = 6;

  // The blobs containing the numeric parameters of the layer.
  repeated BlobProto blobs = 7;

  // Specifies whether to backpropagate to each bottom. If unspecified,
  // Caffe will automatically infer whether each input needs backpropagation
  // to compute parameter gradients. If set to true for some inputs,
  // backpropagation to those inputs is forced; if set false for some inputs,
  // backpropagation to those inputs is skipped.
  //
  // The size must be either 0 or equal to the number of bottoms.
  repeated bool propagate_down = 11;

  // Rules controlling whether and when a layer is included in the network,
  // based on the current NetState. You may specify a non-zero number of rules
  // to include OR exclude, but not both. If no include or exclude rules are

As you well noticed add_loss_weight() function is related to repeated float loss_weight; clause defined in caffe.proto.
The google protocol buffer compiles caffe.proto and generates c++ calls for handling the protobuf messages. You can find more information about the protobuf c++ interface here.

As for loss_weight: looking at caffe.proto it is defined as repeated field of type float. Looking at the reference for Repeated Numeric Fields you'll see that protobuf generates

int loss_weight_size() const; // Returns the number of elements currently in the field
void add_foo(int32 value); // Appends a new element to the field with the given value.
